Curriculum Implementation:
1. Three-tier Curriculum Structure:
Our school curriculum operates on a three-tier structure of "whole class, small group, and individual," catering to the diverse needs of our students. Whole-class learning materials and teaching methods are appropriately arranged based on students' abilities. For certain subjects such as Chinese Language, Mathematics, Life Education, and Life Skills, we implement cross-class ability grouping and provide co-teaching support for students with slightly lower abilities. Additionally, to align with students' career planning and individual needs, teachers and professionals collaborate to develop Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for each student, arranging various small group and individual learning activities to enhance their academic, personal, and moral development.
2. Cross-curricular Collaboration:
We promote cross-curricular collaboration to enhance learning. Examples of ongoing collaboration include the "One Student, One Book" program between Chinese Language and Library Science, as well as the integration of Information Technology with General Studies to guide students in information searching and conducting research projects. Every year, we organize various cross-curricular activities such as the Ready Go Program, Science Week, and Graduation Week, designing unique learning activities to strengthen students' application of knowledge across different subjects and enhance their interest in learning. Furthermore, subjects can flexibly collaborate and align their teaching to enhance the coherence and integrity of learning, based on the content being taught.
3. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Our school encourages collaboration among various professionals, including social workers, school nurses, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, who not only provide services within their respective professional domains but also participate in the development of school-based curriculum. For instance, social workers and school nurses collaborate in implementing sex education groups under the Life Education subject. Speech therapists collaborate with Chinese Language, General Studies, and Work Skills Training subjects to develop listening and speaking skills and workplace communication courses. They also provide practical teaching in classrooms to enhance students' expression and communication skills. Occupational therapists provide professional advice on work training and sensory courses, collaborating with the Sensory Integration subject to conduct training.
4. Home-School Collaboration:
We actively promote home-school collaboration to enhance student learning. This includes daily assessments and teaching plans (DataPac) for Chinese Language and Mathematics subjects, home training for Sensory Integration and Information Technology subjects, as well as various programs such as the "Character Education Star" booklet, the "Healthy Warriors of Tsui Lam" program, and the "Housework 23" program. We encourage parents to actively participate in their children's education through parent workshops, self-learning platforms, and household tasks.
